Some tips for completing your work and getting full or most credit….for the first module, I’ll be lenient in grading
Some tips for completing your work and getting full or most credit….for the first module, I’ll be lenient in grading but will get increasingly tougher as the course goes on. Some general notes to apply to all assignments going forward are as follows:This course wants you to exercise critical thinking – there is often no right or wrong as long as you really think about things – I will often challenge you to “dig deeper”Reference course material in your work (inline references, quotes, and references at the bottom of your submissions) – show that you are applying the course materials and not just rendering your opinionsNothing is ever perfect, so a GOLDEN RULE of this course…never, ever say “no recommendations for improvement” or anything to that affect. Use headers to separate thoughts or assignment questions – or bullets – don’t just abruptly go from one assignment topic to the next in one big paragraph.Always, always make sure you are doing everything the assignment asks. Don’t worry so much about doing it “wrong”. I am pretty lenient in that regard because generally speaking, much of the time, there is no right or wrong. It’s only wrong if you don’t take a stab at it…that’s when you lose a lot of points. To that point, pay attention to the grading rubric because I will rely heavily on it.Please remember for the Tanglewood cases, you are the paid/hired consultant/expert and you are submitting reports to Mr. Perone, not doing a homework assignment. Make it read that way. A good rule of thumb is start with an introduction (what are you submitting and why should Mr. Perone care), then have a body of text (this is where you directly address the questions asked in the assignment), then have some kind of summary or conclusion/wrap up. Otherwise, it’s like jumping into the middle of a movie, then leaving before it ends. If the assignment asks for action plans or recommendations, be clear on what those are and provide some level of detail. A made-up example would be, “Tanglewood should hire more women.” That’s not an action plan. It isn’t even a recommendation. As stated, it is simply an opinion. Put more meat on the bones. E.g. “As the data suggests, Tanglewood has a clear deficiency in the number of female managers. This can be detrimental to an organization in many ways including productivity, employee morale, engagement and retention, and potentially exposes Tanglewood to lawsuits or claims of unfair hiring practices. As an action plan to address this deficiency, we will define specific targets to ensure diversity at all levels, then define methods for achieving those targets.” The recommended word counts make it tough to get too deep, but everyone can dig a little deeper and still remain close enough to word count requirements,Avoid filler text like “I believe Tanglewood should”. We know you believe that. Skip saying it and get to the point. “Tanglewood should…” Filler text helps you meet word count requirements but does nothing for your client, Mr. Perone.Pay some attention to word count. If it asks for a minimum of 500, then less than 400 isn’t going to be received well. You are losing a lot of opportunity to complete the assignment in sufficient fashion by falling well below the word count requirements. I’m not going to care if you turn in 480 words and did a great job covering the assignment, but I am going to care if you are below the minimum and don’t completely cover the assignment.Don’t copy and paste the questions verbatim into your submission…and ESPECIALLY don’t use that copy and pasted stuff to count toward the minimum word count requirement.REALLY think about this…if you were handing in a document that someone paid you for, would they be satisfied with your work? Better yet, if you were paying someone to submit this report to you, would you be happy with their submission? Would you feel you got your money’s worth? If not, then modify it to the point you would.

Hazardous conditions in work facilities
If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am also going to provide a link to the website that we are supposed to read through for this assignment as well and the attachments that the professor provided too.In this activity you will consider issues created by hazards common to facilities and equipment used in a sport you would like to coach. Please develop a power point that describes the sport chosen, the type of facility and equipment used, and at least 2 injuries that are directly related to hazardous conditions, poorly maintained facilities, or damaged equipment–do NOT describe ill-fitting shoes, poorly-sized helmets, choosing to not use safety equipment, etc.–these are human errors and not appropriate for this assignment. You must clearly link the facility/equipment hazards to specific injuries common to participation in that sport. Lastly, describe how you would address these issues (hazards) as a coach to prevent the injuries chosen. The injuries and prevention strategies chosen must clearly relate to the physical hazards described–this connection is the entire point of the assignment. Your PPT should also include a minimum of 3 graphics. I will be looking for the correct use of anatomical terms when describing the injuries (don’t just write their names), a detailed look at potential hazards chosen, and your method of preventing injuries. If you are unsure if you’ve chosen “good” hazards, send me a message and ask. Upload the assignment as a power point/pptx file. PLEASE HAVE ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION IN THE SLIDES- not the “notes”.
